Polkadot's blockchain network is now on the air.
The Web3 Foundation, the network's managing partner, today marks the first phase of Polkadot's main network offering. At this stage, Web3 Foundation will maintain control of the network, running nodes and verifying blocks. investors of Dot, Olkadot's local token, can access their accounts to express their intention to become verifiers or identify other verifiers, although Dot is currently unable to transfer them.
As laid out in the development roadmap, the Web3 Foundation plans to gradually hand over control of the network to DOT owners once they ensure the network runs smoothly.
Peter Czaban, co-founder of Polkadot and the Web3 Foundation, said: "since the publication of the Polkadot paper three years ago, we have been researching and building the Polkadot protocol, which has greatly improved our collective understanding of these systems since our early working building, Ethereum."In particular, we will accelerate the development of mainstream decentralized practices by believing that Polkadot's open governance system will allow the network to innovate and grow much faster than older networks,” he says.
